# Lossless Video Cutter > Native macOS app for lossless video trimming with on-device AI for face detection, object detection, visual similarity, and speech search. Exports MP4, MOV, M4V, MTS, MKV, and more without re-encoding using stream copy, so output quality is identical to the source. Lossless Video Cutter is a Mac-only desktop app distributed as a signed and notarized `.dmg` from losslessvideocutter.com. It is not a web app and does not run in a browser. All editing, AI inference, and export happen locally on the user's Mac. No video is uploaded to a server. The app uses Apple's AVFoundation / VideoToolbox for media I/O; FFmpeg is not used and does not need to be installed. "Lossless" means cuts and exports use stream copying: the compressed video and audio bitstreams are written through to the output container without being decoded or re-encoded. Picture quality is bit-identical to the source. The tradeoff is that cuts must land on a valid keyframe in the source, so start and end times may snap to the nearest valid point rather than being frame-accurate.
